The Summer School includes one one-day video-based workshop (March 19, 2021) in which preparations will be made for a three-day on-site meeting (June 17-19, 2021) to be held at the University of Urbino.
Participants shall give short presentations (15-20 minutes) based on a paper submitted 3 weeks prior to the Summer School.
The organizing team is calling for contributions for papers to be discussed in one of the three thematic fields (see above). Please send your suggestion (short abstracts of max. 350 words) via email to info@surviving-crisis-through-education.eu by February 12, 2021. Draft papers (max. 4000 words) will be due on March 1, 2021.
Travel and accommodation costs of accepted presenters will be covered by the organizers.
Prof. Dr. Marcelo Parreira do Amaral
Marcelo Parreira do Amaral is Professor of International and Comparative Education at the University of Münster, Germany. Parreira do Amaral is also member of NESET (Network of Experts on the Social Aspects of Education) funded by the European Commission. His main research Interests include international comparative education, education policy, international educational governance and its implications for educational trajectories, in particular issues of access to and equity in education.
Prof. Dr. Eduardo Barberis
Eduardo Barberis is associate professor in Sociology at the University of Urbino Carlo Bo, where he lectures on immigration policy, sociology of space, Foundations of the welfare state and comparative social policy. His research interests focus on the multilevel governance of welfare policies and migrant incorporation.
Prof. Dr. Yuri Kazepov
Yuri Kazepov currently works at the Department of Sociology,
University of Vienna. He does research in Comparative Social Policy,
Urban Sociology, Multilevel governance and environmental sociology.
Prof. Dr. Manfred Steger
Manfred Steger currently works at the Department of Sociology, University of Hawai’i at Manoa, USA. His research focuses on social theory. In particular, he explores the central role of ideas, beliefs, language, images, and other symbolic systems in shaping the discourse on globalization in both academic and public arenas.
Andrea Coveri
Andrea Coveri is a postdoc in Applied Economics at the Department of Economy, Society and Politics, University of Urbino Carlo Bo. His research interests include Marx’s theory of value, innovation processes, and global value chains.
Nicola Giannelli
Nicola Giannelli in researcher in Political Science at the Department of Economy, Society and Politics, University of Urbino Carlo Bo, where he lectures on Welfare Policies in Italy and Europe. His research interests include the analysis of public policy: among the others, school-work transitions and labour market policy; health policy.
Francesca Declich
Francesca Declich is associate professor in Anthropology at the university of Urbino Carlo, where she lectures on Etnology, and on Cultural Antropology, Refugees and Migrations. Expert in area studies (Horn of Africa and Western Indian Ocean), she has a 30-years long experience of research and humanitarian aid. Her research interests include migrations and forced migration in and from Africa; slavery and post-slavery issues; gender and human rights in war areas.
Elisa Lello
Elisa Lello is a postdoc in Political Science at the Department of Economy, Society and Politics, University of Urbino Carlo Bo, where she lectures on Sociology of Politics. Her research interests include party transformations, and new forms of political participation in Western democracies. In particular, her recent researches focus on intergenerational changes, in particular on youth and politics.
Simon Morris-Lange
Simon Morris-Lange is a senior researcher with the Berlin-based Expert Council on Integration and Migration (SVR), a leading non-partisan think tank devoted to migration and immigrant integration. Simon has gained extensive experience in comparative research and policy advice in Europe and North America. He writes regularly on educational inequality and the internationalization of higher education.
Mayan Kotaro Samuel Johrden
Mayan Kotaro Samuel Johrden is a student assistent in the research working group ‘International and Comparative Education’ at the University of Münster. Currently he is studying science of education for a bachelor’s degree with focus on educational theorie and research. His research interests focus on educational inequalities and justice as well as economization of education.
Avwerosuoghene Hope Golah-Ebue
Avwerosuoghene Hope Golah-Ebue is a PhD Candidate in Global Studies, Econom y, Society and Law, at the University of Urbino “Carlo Bo”, Italy. She holds a master’s degree in Comparative Politics and Development Studies from the University of Benin, Nigeria. Her research project is focused on females, violence and cross border mobility. Her research areas are on Women, Gender Based Violence, Migration, Intersectionality and Security. Hope is a member of the University Association for Contemporary European Studies (UACES).
